    Irresponsible people
    Irresponsible financially
Irresponsible taking care of their pets
Edit: Obviously some of the people didn’t bother to read the link which discusses pets being abandoned and left to starve in foreclosed properties. These people didn’t even have the minuscule degree of kindness to take their pet to a shelter so it would have a chance at a home or be humanely euthanized rather than starving to death!!! I read another article recently of a dog that died after abandonment because it was so hungry it ate the plasterboard walls which turned into hard plaster in its intestines!
I worry about the fact that I live in a society that contains people that would do this to an animal they or their children supposedly loved!!!!!!
Edit: The answer is… do NOT abandon your pet. Don’t wait until the last minute to try to find it a home. If you cannot or have not found it a home AT LEAST take it to a shelter!!!

in Berlin NH a couple yrs ago there was a huge drug bust. it was about a week before anyone realized there were pets (the guy wasn’t busted at home). neighbors never said a thing until there was an odor. then there had to be a court order for animal control to get in. they found 1 husky and 2 cats dead, a pit that had to be put down, and another husky that was able to go to a rescue group. it was summer time and lack of water was the biggest problem. but the guy never told anyone about his pets.
AND TO XYZ: PETS ARE LIVING BEINGS AND NOT INTENDED TO BE DISPOSABLE. PLEASE EXPLAIN TO YOUR HUSBAND THAT ABANDONMENT IS ILLEGAL. and if he feels this way about a being that would stand by him no matter what the discomfort, i hope he doesn’t eventually think you’ll be too much of a financial liability. or your children should you ever have any.
there are plenty of shelters out there.

Back in 1982 in Oklahoma the ol industry plummeted overnight. I had a grooming store and weekly had dogs and cats left in boxes on my doorstep to find the next morning. It was awful. People were making a fortune one day, the next day unemployed. Many of my customers were gracious enough to help and take a 2nd pet to help find new homes. It was sooo sad. No one saw it coming. Many well loved pets became abandoned.

Probably they cannot afford to have pets anymore since they cannot keep up with their mortgage payments. Also, because they are irresponsible toward their own finances, so they probably are irresponsible toward their pets.

Mostly because the families have to rent and not many rentals allow dogs.

my husband is thinking of abandoning own dog too. my house is going in foreclosure.
its too much tension and stress now. he say the dog has to be eliminated, because now he see him as liability and expense.
what to do in this situation, help me please?

  • JayCee said:

Because a lot of the time when you can’t pay for your house and you have it foreclosed then you can’t afford a dog either. Poor dogs.

It’s a very, very sad situation. What’s even sadder is the fact that people treat their pets like disposable garbage.

Cant afford home cant afford dog. simple. Better question, why they didnt find a home for the dog when they knew they were going to lose the house.

Things are tough out there and at least they did the right thing with them, it is pretty tough on someone to loose a house and their best friends at the same time. I don`t have the right to judge them, does anyone?
